A custom theme instead of a template
A marketplace template is built to suit everybody. That is why it ships dozens of header, slider and grid variants, of which you will use two. The rest still loads on every page.
I write the theme for your specific design. It contains exactly what the design has and nothing beyond it.
- The page weighs what it should, with no foreign code
- Clean semantic markup, which both search engines and screen readers rely on
- Editable blocks so you can assemble new pages yourself
- Plugin updates do not break the layout
How the work runs
No surprises halfway through: timeline and price are known before we start.
Scoping
What kind of site, who will use it, what has to be editable, and where enquiries should go.
Estimate
Timeline and cost before the work starts, not along the way.
Development
Work happens on staging with progress shown as it goes, so there are no surprises at the end.
Launch
Checks on responsiveness, forms, speed and metadata. Support afterwards.
What people usually come with
Three jobs that come up project after project.
The site was hacked
Pages you never created appear in search, visitors get redirected, Google shows a warning. I clean it, close the entry point and clear the warnings.
The site is slow
The store takes too long on mobile and buyers leave. I work through the causes in order: images, plugins, caching, hosting.
You need a store
Catalogue, filters, product variations, payments and shipping for your country. A fast store rather than a heavy template.
